Questions

What should a nanny receipt show?

Who was paid and who paid, the date, the amount, the payment method and what it was for. If a balance is left, show it.

Can parents use this receipt for the child care tax credit or a dependent care FSA?

Parents need the provider's name, address and taxpayer ID number, the amount paid and the dates of care. This receipt has a box for each. The credit is claimed on IRS Form 2441.

Do I need to give a receipt for a cash payment?

Give one for every payment, and always for cash, so both sides have a record of what was paid and when.

Can I number receipts my own way?

Yes. Type any number in the receipt number box; keep them in order so you can match them to your books.
