Questions

How do I work out what to charge per house clean?

Add your labor (hours times what that labor costs you), materials and job costs. Add overhead as a percentage. Then divide by one minus your profit margin to get the price.

What's the difference between markup and margin?

Markup is profit as a percentage of cost; margin is profit as a percentage of the price. A 20% margin is the same as a 25% markup.

What should overhead include?

Costs you pay no matter which job you do: insurance, vehicle, phone, software, advertising, accounting and your own unpaid admin time. Add up a month of them and divide by the hours you bill to check your percentage.
