Questions

What is a change order?

A written change to the work, price or schedule of a job after the contract is signed. Both sides sign it, and it becomes part of the contract.

When do I need one?

Any time the client asks for extra work, a hidden condition changes the job or a material has to be swapped. Get it signed before the extra work starts; extras are much harder to collect on without a signature.

How do I show a credit for work removed?

Type a minus sign before the rate on that line, for example -250. The total subtracts it.

Does a change order replace the contract?

No. It amends it. Staple or attach it to the original contract and write the contract date at the top.
